A customer of ours recently remodeled the kitchen of their hunting cabin near Port Edwards, Wisconsin. The carpenter built new cabinets made from reclaimed barn wood, which made the stained beams look out-of-place. So we re-painted the beams with a faux bois (fake wood) woodgrain to match both the color and type of wood used to build the cabinets (knotty pine). We even created fake knots to better match the cabinets. The final step is to protect the work with a coat of varnish. The customer is really happy with the work, and that makes us happy to have done it!
